Structural Engineering Design & Calculations
Working alongside Architectural & Planning practice Laurence Associates, Form were instructed to assist with the structural engineering services for this renovation project.
Our clients brief was to redevelop a host of redundant cottages and associated buildings which are situated in the china clay area to the northwest of St Austell. The existing buildings, which are non-designated heritage assets, were mostly in ruins, having being left to decay for decades. Some stone walls were intact but all roofs collapsed many years ago.
Form provided structural design and calculations for The Farmhouse, Annex and Garage. Where possible as much of the existing redundant buildings were retained, repaired and repointed within the design and redevelopment project.
The project is making exciting progress on site and we look forward to seeing the final development.
How can Form help?
Whether you will need a structural engineer for your next renovation project will depend on the nature of your plans, but they are often required for solar panel installation, beam calculations, loft conversions, door and window modification, internal wall changes, underpinning, and chimney removal. Essentially, any project that alters the structure of the building or requires building control approval will require the expertise of a structural engineer.
