Gwyn Mergh, Portreath
Party Wall Services
Alongside our structural engineering services we also offer Party Wall services. The Party Wall act was passed in 1996 and applied to houses in England and Wales. It was given to prevent building work from being undertaken that could compromise the structural integrity of any shared wall (party wall) or adjoining properties. Notices and agreements may be required between the affected homeowners.
The property owner of Gwyn Mergh enlisted our services as the demolition and redevelopment of their single storey bungalow fell within the realm of the Party Wall Act 1996. The existing bungalow had adjoining properties to both sides which required notices for excavations within 3m and line of junction works.
The final replacement dwelling will boast a stunning open plan design on the ground floor with bedrooms and bathrooms on the first floor and glazed side extension.
How can Form help?
Whether you will need a structural engineer for your next renovation project will depend on the nature of your plans, but they are often required for solar panel installation, beam calculations, loft conversions, door and window modification, internal wall changes, underpinning, and chimney removal. Essentially, any project that alters the structure of the building or requires building control approval will require the expertise of a structural engineer.
